Providing lively and imaginative students with the tools they need to succeed academically and socially is more important than ever. Just ask 3rd grade teacher Stephanie Sellers from Williams Township Elementary in Whiteville, NC. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the rural, Title 1 school was finally able to deploy Chromebooks for each student. But even with hardware in hand, challenges persisted. Without reliable headphones, students just couldn’t make the most of their new technology.

Schools, teachers and classrooms like Ms. Sellers’ 3rd grade class are exactly the reason Gumdrop created the Drops of Good Giving Back Program. As a company, we strongly believe in supporting our communities, and when Ms. Sellers told us about her talented students, we knew we could help with a donation of rugged headsets and cases that would help the new Chromebooks last even longer.

“Each child in my class strives for success and my goal is to motivate and expose my students daily to the world around them.” – Ms. Sellers

Cool Colors, Clear Voices

According to Ms. Sellers, the first thing the kids noticed about their new headsets was the “rad” blue color! And from a teacher’s perspective, she appreciated the durability, microphones, volume controls, and quality.

“Students store the headphones in baskets and have been using them for the past months daily and there has not been any damage to any headphones. The headphones and protective cases will be utilized for the upcoming year also. They are durable pieces that will last for the next couple school years.”

Now that the students are back in the classroom, the new Gumdrop headsets get plenty of use because their reading and math programs are web-based. The young learners complete assignments, take tests and do projects digitally, and Ms. Sellers hears a major improvement in the quality of the recordings from the headsets.

“Thank you again for your generous donation and making a block of third graders and their teacher very happy.” – Ms. Sellers

Everyone knows kids are tough on tech! At Gumdrop, we designed our headphones and headsets to withstand the unique challenges of the classroom, especially in young hands. They’re twistable, bendable and even have a bite-proof cord because they were built from the ground up for education.

Chromebook Safety First

From distance learning to classroom enhancements, Ms. Sellers’ class thrives with their fleet of student Chromebooks, and keeping them in one piece is critical. That’s why our donation also included rugged, kid-proof cases. Achieving 1:1 deployment is a huge step forward, and we wanted to do our part to help Williams Township Elementary get the most use from their devices. It’s our goal to keep students connected and school tech repair budgets in check, even when everyday drops and scratches are unavoidable.

Gumdrop Gives Back

Our educators have been asked to give so much, especially throughout the challenges of the past year and a half. It’s our honor to support their mission to keep learning on track by promoting – and protecting – technology in the classroom.

From all of us at Gumdrop, we wish Ms. Sellers and her fantastic students a happy and successful school year!
